How much do you want to succeed online?

Tagged Under : become full time marketer online, how long does it take to succed online, internet marketing, online marketing, online traffic bible, want to succeed online
People often ask me 2 questions: what does it take to become a full time marketer online and how long will it take.
Well, I have a question for you: how bad do you want it? I have met people who complained when they had to make their investment in the domain name and hosting – it was already too much for them. I would usually ask them what would it cost to start an offline business: $3000, $5000, $10000….So, if you want to own your business and to be your own boss, you have to put something on the table, and it seems to me that around $100 is not a big price to pay.
In our online adventure, we have had some pretty bad moments. We lived without electricity for 2 weeks, barely had any food to eat, had the phone switched off, had to borrow money from family and friends, did not have money to pay the rent (thank god for our land lady, she is an angel)…the list is long. Not to mention the constant stress without a regular pay-check. ( I do have an offline job and it is very successful, but it is making money only during the summer. Since my boyfriend moved to Europe to be with me, that money was suppose to be for us both, but it was not enough. That is the reason why we started an online business).
The worst part was that we worked online 12 hours/day but we were still not making any money. There was always something missing. And that something almost killed us. ALMOST. I was always too stubborn to quit on anything that I really wanted – thank God for that.
After so many trials and errors we finally started to see some sales. I will never forget when we made our first dollar online, our big success – that was a dollar that kept us going. A dollar worth a million bucks. And it all happened when we finally realized that without building a list, we would never make it. We heard that “money is in the list” about 20000 times but we never honestly paid attention to it. We were too busy building other peoples lists and promoting for them.
When we decided to give that “list stuff” a shot, it paid off really quickly. We built a list thanks to giveaways and Ad swaps -you can read all about it in our post….
One more hint: build 2 parallel lists, one from the people who already purchased something from you and the other from the people that you had to “bribe” in order for them to opt-in to your list. This way you will also be building a very “responsive” list.
So, to get back on the “how long” question, it took us almost 2 years. But we were to blame that it took that long – we did not listen to the one single piece of advice that every single “GURU” tells you: THE MONEY IS IN THE LIST.
What does it take? Whatever you are willing to give up to follow your dream. In our case we risked everything we had…only to gain much more.
Building a list

How can You build a list?
We all heard it over and over again: the money is in the list. Unfortunately I neglected that part of internet marketing for far too long. And I paid the price.
First of all why should you NEVER promote other people websites? Because you will building their lists and their wallets instead of your own. They say every subscriber on the list is worth around $1. Now, if you have been doing online marketing for some time without your own landing page, you do the math.
So it is time for you to start branding yourself and promote for yourself and yourself only. Internet marketing is easy once you have a list. With a single e-mail and a click of a button, you make money. And the money you make is in direct proportion to the size of your list.
How can you build a list? First you have to build your own landing page. There are many sources online that can teach you how to do that and I will not waste your time doing it.
Next thing you want to do is to set up a newsletter or some kind of a giveaway (it can be a free e-book that you have PLR for) on your landing page. You have to give something valuable to your visitors in order to capture their names. There are IM giveaway events online (one of them is I.M. Giveaways Notifier on Facebook) and you have to register for as many as you can. If you come up with something interesting that you can give to your visitors you could build a big list in just a couple of days.
After your build your list to around 300+ subscribers, you can trade it with other people who have a similar size list. That is called Ad Swap (one of them is Swapezineads.com). What this means is that you e-mail your list promoting a product from that other person, and he will do the same for you on his list. It is a win-win situation.
With those two techniques, your list should grow very fast.

So far it is one of the better free search engine submission tools I have come across. If you know of a better search engine submission tool please feel free to post if you feel it is worthwhile to use.
Instant Website Traffic

Ranking in the Top of Google will get you instant website traffic. But how do you get there and even more importantly: how do you get there quick? I will give you a few shortcuts that will rank your new site under 24 hours. This does not apply to affiliate links. If you follow the instructions, success is guaranteed.
1. When buying a domain, include the keyword you want to rank for in your domain name. (let`s say you want to rank for “get traffic”. Since -gettraffic.com is already taken, you can buy something like gettrafficwithxxxx.com – xxxx would be your name. Be creative, you are building your brand. Always buy a .COM domain – Search Engines prefer .COM over other domains.
2. Make sure you create a site with at least 5 pages. It can be a WordPress blog with 5 posts, they are very simple to create and there are hundreds of free themes and plugins online. It is very unlikely that only one page (or affiliate page) will get ranked by a SE. Not that it can`t happen, but let`s not take any chances here. Use your keywords in the headlines (where and when you can), and be sure to use them wisely in your posts. DO NOT repeat your keyword 30 times if it doesn`t make any sense.
3. The name of your blog should be the keyword you are trying to rank for. Keywords and Tags must include: the name of your site, the keyword you want to rank for, a couple of keyword phrases related to your basic keyword. ( in this case: get traffic with xxxx, get traffic, get traffic online, how to get traffic, how to get traffic fast – this is just an example). Always use those keywords, whenever you are posting about your site!!!!! After your page is up and shining you can start getting instant website traffic:
4. Go to Google and submit your url. Put the keywords you want to rank for in the comments box, INCLUDE your domain name – you are branding yourself.
5. Do the same with YAHOO and BING
6. Go to HUB pages and submit an ORIGINAL article with a link to your site. Use keywords as described in #3.
7. Go to Squidoo and make a Lens about your site. Use keywords as described in #3.
8. Go to EzineArticles and post an ORIGINAL article, you will wait around a week for them to approve… (Use keywords as described in #3.) They are really picky about their articles, so if you don`t get approved, don`t worry about it, just keep submitting, they will approve you eventually. You can also skip this part as there is a good substitute for EzineArticles.
9. Go to GoArticles – post an ORIGINAL article. Use keywords as described in #3.
10. Go to Articlecity – post an ORIGINAL article. Use keywords as described in #3.
11. Go to Scribd – upload a word document/pdf about your site with a link to it. Use keywords as described in #3.
12. Go to Folkd – post your link. Use keywords as described in #3.
13. Go to Propeller – post your link. Use keywords as described in #3.
14. Go to Digg – post your link. Use keywords as described in #3.
15. Go to Tagza – post an HTML ad with a link. Use keywords as described in #3.
16. Go to Twitter – post as often as you can about your site.
You can also go to Facebook and find Internet Marketing groups (or groups related to your website).
This is a leaked chapter from the Online Traffic Bible. There are over 2000 sources in there, these are just shortcuts to get your site ranked quickly. Use these traffic tactics and you will see your site on the first page of Google in about 24 hours or less. I did it with couple of my sites. And I keep doing it every week with my blog links (same keywords). It has never failed. The best part of all: this is all FREE website traffic.
I will talk about implementing RSS feeds into online marketing tomorrow.
Do you want to know what your visitors are doing while they are on your sales page? We found a great online tool that keeps track of your visitors while they are on your page. This way you can watch exactly what they are or are not doing.
Also, you can see if your advertising efforts are effective or if you are just wasting your time advertising in certain places. We joined the FREE program that keeps track of your visitors while they are on the page because we wanted to see what visitors are doing.
For instance, we dedicated 2 days to advertising on safelists. Since we are always tracking traffic, we knew exactly how many hits we got from safelist advertising. The problem was that we got a lot of hits but very few sales. We thought that maybe there was a problem with our sales page. We checked with the program, just to see what our visitors are doing and why they navigate away from the page without purchasing. To our surprise, out of 100 hits, only 18 were HUMANS, and out of those 18 we only had 3 sales (not bad convertion rate, lol). 82 hits came from robots. That was a big, big surprise. Up until now, only a few were using those robots on safelists, but since they are cheaper every day, almost everyone seems to be using them. So, our conclusion was that there was nothing wrong with our page – you can`t persuade a robot to buy. At least not for now, lol.
Another great thing about this program is that you can find out what your strong points are on the sales page and what you have to change to keep your visitors from leaving before even getting to that “ORDER BUTTON”. You can see where they stopped to read, and where they skipped the text. Also if you have an opt-in box on your page, you can see if they are interested in the bonus you are offering or not.
All in all it is a pretty neat tool that will answer all those questions concerning the quality of your sales page. The name of the program is CLICKTALE and it`s FREE up to 400 hits/month, 100 hits/week. If you want to track more of your online visitors, you can upgrade. There is also a video below if you want to see CLICKTALE in action!!
Banner Marketing – creative way to increase website traffic

We all know what banner marketing is all about – paying websites or even search engines for them to display your banner in order to increase website traffic. There are also free banner exchanges that help you build online traffic and promote your website. When you join banner exchange you have to upload your banner and it will be displayed across network of other sites by members just like you. In order to receive impressions of your banner you will need to place a small code on your website that will display other members banners.
Banner exchange networks are a proven fair and free way to bring visitors to your website. On some exchanges you can specify o category that your website mostly relates to. Some are already specified. This ensures that traffic will come only from websites that have related content as yours. Visitors of the website are already looking for what you offer making the traffic received very targeted. Every time a person enters a certain keyword, your banner will appear along with the website.
Once clicked, the visitor will be taken into your website. This is where they will best understand why your banner was there in the first place.
So, how will you make them click on your banner? Be different and creative. In Internet Marketing Niche “Make $50.000,00/month on autopilot” can be catchy but internet is over-saturated with banners stating the same thing over and over again. Maybe “How NOT to lose tons of money/month on autopilot” would work better in this case. It would certainly raise some interest.
Your message has to give them a reason to click. Message (or picture) should be direct and simple. It has to catch the attention of a visitor in a very small period of time – few seconds. What are you trying to accomplish on the website you are promoting with the banner? Sales? Visitors? Or more opt-ins? No matter what it is, you need to concentrate on the targeted audience and give them what they want in one sentence. If you simply want to brand yourself (or your business), be sure to put the name of your website in front of your visitors with only one catchy line (your slogan). Don`t over complicate. Go straight to the point. And TEST. Always test the converting rates for your banner – how many visitors clicked/1000 impressions (CPM). This also goes for anything else you do online in a matter of marketing.
The average CTR for banner ads is roughly 0.25%, with a reported range of 0.17% to 1%. Of course, this is average. The banner you can see in this post has 7% CTR. The funny part is that I don`t even like it. I posted it to test it and to my surprise it out-performed every banner I ever created (I created about 50-60 of them).
Like with everything else in online marketing, it is a numbers game. If you had a big budget, it wouldn`t be difficult to make money. However, making money without lots of money can be a great challenge.
